Bitcoin Versus Ethereum: Room For Both?

Ethereum has increasingly become a problem for the Internet’s millions of Bitcoin faithful. It goes against Bitcoin maximalist dogma, for one thing:if the 21 million eventual total Bitcoins in the world are the only genuine, useful well-supported cryptocurrency.. and if everything else is imitative manipulated, then what is this thing Ether, and why are all the Ethers in the Ethereum collectively valued at US $894,488,591 today, even hours after Bitcoin’s block halving went off without a hitch.

ELI5: What is a bitcoin block and how does mining generate bitcoins?

I find the whole idea of bitcoins nonsensical. As far as I understand you use your computing power and your machine solves algorithms and if you hit a block ta da you get 50 bitcoins. (You do this in a group) What kind of algorithms does your computer solve? Can't you actually write code to optimize it and make it run faster? What is a block? And why does letting your computer on all the time mining bitcoins generate money? Isn't this different than the world in which we live in where money is exchange of labor or value. Enlighten me redditors.

New to LBRY (found it through Reddit) People ask what is this LBRY all about. Is it an alternative to Youtube and Amazon? It is a lot more than that. I discover without realising about block chain, bitcoin, digital marketplace, content creators and users. It's a new world out there.

What is a Bitcoin Miners - Tokenview Block Explorer

What is a Bitcoin Miners - Tokenview Block Explorer
Once a transaction has been made, it must be verified by people called miners. When a transaction occurs, it is grouped together in a mathematically protected “block” with other transactions that have happened in the same time frame. Miners then use computers with incredible computing power to solve the block mathematically. The first miners to solve the block and validate the transactions are rewarded with bitcoin. This is the only way that bitcoin can be created. Finally, each block is connected to the previously verified block, creating a chain of blocks.
One more thing that you need to understand about the blockchain is that it is immutable, which means, once the data has been added into a block, it can never (like never ever) be changed. If you want to search this transaction you can vist Tokenview Block Explorer to view the detail information of this transaction by pasting the transaction hash in the search box.

Everyone is talking about Bitcoin Halving. Miners in 2009 received 50 BTC for mining each block but now it's going to be 6.25! We saw a huge price change after the last two halvings. Ahead of 3rd Bitcoin Halving, what is your expectations, what is going to happen?

LN is a whole lot of obfuscation and hocus pocus to accomplish in an overly complex way what bitcoin can do on-chain and at scale, as proven by tests with larger blocks.

Before you reply in defense of how great LN is, there’s one proof of why it’s non-optimum: it is attempting to be forced onto users. Scaling on-chain was not allowed, and thus attempting to force this layer 2 “solution”.
Let me ask you: why wasn’t it allowed to be an option for scaling, and also do some modest blocksize increases?
Answer: Because someone doesn’t like the fact that Bitcoin had been working perfectly for 8 years.
Perhaps someone just didn’t like Bitcoin.

"What Roger doesn't get. If he wanted to create a big-block alt-coin then, in general, no one from the bitcoin community would care. Or, we would care the same as we do about the hundreds of other alt-coins with different experimental features; not much. The issue is the fraud."

Is there any reason for considering the addition of CT, extension blocks and mimblewimble to Bitcoin? Just recently there was talk about L T C doing this and the value of that coin just moved up by a huge amount? What would be the advantages (if any) of adding these (if possible) to bitcoin?
